Italian Data Protection Authority (DPA) seeking inputs on IoT

According to press released on April 28, 2015, the Italian Data Protection Authority (DPA) opened for public comments on the Internet of Things (IoT) to gain comments useful to draft rules and set up protection measures in this area. In particular, the DPA seeks comments on how to provide information to individuals and gain their consent, how to develop Privacy by Design, anonymization of data, interoperability of services, and certification tools.

The DPA’s aim is to ensure maximum transparency in IoT’s processing of consumer data and to protect consumers from possible abuses.

Comments can be sent to iot@gpdp.it for 180 days from the notice’s publication on the Official Journal.
