Home Depot confirmed Data Breach

According to Forbes, Home Depot (the nation’s largest home improvement retailer) confirmed on September 8 that its payment data systems had been breached. Reuters reports that five states (California, Connecticut, Illinois, New York and Iowa) have launched a probe into the matter.

In addition, according to Reuters, U.S. senators Edward Markey of Massachusetts and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut called on the Federal Trade Commission to investigate because “[s]uch conduct is potentially unfair and deceptive, and therefore could violate the FTC Act.” (see the Senators’ statement.)
