ECC and BEREC Regulation enter into force

On December 20, 2018, the new European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) and the BEREC Regulation entered into force.
The EECC represents a major reform of the European telecom regulatory framework. The BEREC Regulation is an associated regulation concerning the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC). They are both part of the Digital Single Market strategy.
The new telecoms rules ensure faster access to radio spectrum waves, introduce new rules for spectrum management, and incentivize investment in high-speed broadband networks.
Member States have two years to transpose the BEREC Regulation provisions into domestic law.

The Joint statement by Vice-President Ansip and Commissioner Gabriel welcoming the European Parliament’s vote on the new EU telecoms rules is available at http://europa.eu…

More on BEREC is available at https://berec.europa.eu….
