EU Court of Human Rights 2014 Report – significant emphasis on data protection

On January 29, 2015, the EU Court of Human Rights released its Annual 2014 Report. The report includes an overview of the Court’s case law, some statistical information, and – among other things –a list by country of violations classified according to the subject matter.

The documents attests that 2014 saw an impressive decline in the number of cases pending before the Court. However, the paper reports that some challenges remain: not least that of finding a solution to the handling of repetitive cases, now amounting to around 34,000.

A significant part of the Report is dedicated to privacy and data protection.
